Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of the bulk packaging and storage of product including:

conducting prestart checks and shut-down operations

applying diagnostic techniques

selecting and using relevant tools

working wearing personal protective equipment

hazardous goods handling and management

conducting operational maintenance

working at heights

using alarm/monitoring and control systems

using lifting techniques (manual, cranes and loads)

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the bulk packaging and storage of product that meets all of the required outcomes including:

using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to others

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

clarifying work requirements and instructions

inspecting and preparing work area and equipment

demonstrates completion of the bulk packaging and storage of product that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

completing work plan completing equipment shutdown/isolation

completing housekeeping activities

carry out pre-start, start up and shut down procedures

control feed to packaging unit

seal and label package ready for transport

take samples of product


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in bulk packaging and store product through:

site product characteristics

plant components functions, characteristics, technical capability and limitations

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency

using hauling procedures (mobile)

using loading procedures

hazardous goods and consequences of spills

reading and interpreting metallurgical and technical data (basic)

product packaging and storage requirements

applying towing procedures (mobile)

types of ores (basic)

applying wet and dry working procedures
